Oil Leak and Good Guys
When you get this, I will be on my way into Quetico Provincial Park for my canoe trip adventure. I’ll share about my journey when I get back on August 2nd. Until then, here is a story from a few weeks ago . . .
After a lovely early morning walk on the beach, I came back to the parking lot and saw that my car was dripping – a lot.
An oil leak.
My heart sank.
My 2017 Subaru Outback – purchased in Butte Montana brand new – is a well-traveled friend – meaning she has a lot of miles under her belt.
Trying not to jump to worst case scenarios, I checked the oil, thinking I should at least add more. The only problem was, I couldn’t get the cap open. With no service to call for assistance, I decided to jump in the car and hope for the best.
Now, normally, I would have been freaking out by this point, convinced I would need a new car or at the least be stuck with a big repair bill. But then I remembered something I’d read in Tosha Silver’s Change Me Prayers: The Secret Power of Spiritual Surrender. In one of the essays, she shared about how she’d injured her ankle in a yoga class in the morning but shook it off, only to be suddenly unable to put any weight on it by afternoon. She instantly started praying, asking the Divine to show her the way to navigate the crisis with ease which led to an out of the blue acupuncturist treatment that very afternoon. Problem solved.
So with this in mind, I started my own prayers, asking for help to navigate the car situation with ease. I drove right to the local garage I’ve been going to lately – Good Guys Garage (with a halo over the name). A parking spot was open right up front (which almost never happens at this place). Though they don’t have a bay open, one of the employees just happens to be a Subaru expert who offers to take a look for me. Five minutes later, I’m on my way, having learned it was a normal water leak from the AC!
Needless to say I continued my prayers of gratitude all the way home.
So, next time you have a crisis (or challenge pop up), maybe give it a try! As Tosha says, this stuff is so practical.
