Spring Migration and Intuition
Spring is officially here!
On my walk a couple days ago, I saw . . .
Three Cedar Waxwings
Two Sandhill Cranes
And a partridge in a pear tree. . . (imagine me singing this last line)
Haha. Sorry - couldn’t help myself.
So obviously, I didn’t see a partridge or a pear tree, but I did see a whole lake full of red-breasted merganzers and bufflehead ducks. The male merganzers were doing their courting ritual (see the link for the video at the end), which looks like they are bowing to the female, ruffled crest display and all. So amazing!
Do you enjoy observing nature?
It is a great way to settle your nervous system - sort of like an interactive meditation.
It is also a way to tune into your intuition.
When I first started out on my intuitive journey, I would go for a walk in nature with a question in mind. On the walk, I would notice what I saw. When I’d get back to the house, I would pull out Ted Andrews Animal-Speak Pocket Guide and look up the metaphysical meaning of the animals or birds I saw. It always helped me get clarity on whatever I was struggling with.
These days, you can find lots of information online about the symbolic meaning of things in nature – including the trees.
Maybe head out for a walk this week and see what catches your eye. You might just find that nature is speaking to you too.
I didn’t get a video of the courtship display for the red-breasted merganzers, but here is one I found on You Tube: Merganzer Video
