Baby Birds and Intuition
Rosa, our cat, has been obsessed with the front door lately. She sits and stares up at the window, eyes focused, ears alert. She is a very accomplished hunter from her time in Colorado, so we figured something was going on outside. That’s when Ryan found a surprise. You see, a friendly little sparrow had made a nest inside the front door wreath. We took a peek and found it filled with little eggs and then yesterday a newly hatched bird, and today a nest full of hungry mouths!
I’m sharing this, not just because it was a cool experience, but also because nature brings us messages. Sparrows are homebodies. They like to stay close to houses, using people to keep predators away. They are efficient and determined birds – not flashy, but magnificently capable. It’s a bird, that if it were human, you could count on to get the garbage out on time every week.
Anyone else need the sparrow’s calm, no-nonsense energy this week? With the usual spring cleaning and outdoor projects happening this time of year, the sparrow’s efficiency can be of great help. They also remind us to enjoy the simple pleasures of daily life. And of course, there is the metaphor of the eggs and newly hatched chicks. I have a lot of eggs in metaphorical baskets right now, so this too is a wonderful message for me.
So, what are you noticing in nature? Pay attention this week and see what catches your eye (or ear, or nose). Ask yourself how the encounter made you feel? What did it remind you of? Connecting with nature’s messages is a great way to work with your intuition. And it is a ton of fun!
I’d love to hear what you encounter. Use the contact form to share!
