2025 - Navigating the Adventure

Every year I listen to the Trends talk with the teachers from the Power Path. They do a forecast, looking at the personality for the year ahead. I have found it remarkably accurate and helpful over the years. Last year’s metaphor was white water rafting. For those unfamiliar with that experience, it involves fast moving water, quick reactions, and brief moments of calm. Sound like 2024 to you? It certainly matched my year.

This year, the metaphor is again about being on a river, but unlike last year, it isn’t described as a short trip. Instead, it is a multiple day trip on a huge powerful river (think the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon). For this trip, you need a bigger boat and a crew to navigate the challenges successfully. While it offers exciting adventures and great beauty, you can also expect extreme temperatures, bugs, and potentially terrifying rapids.

So, how do we prepare for this?

Well, as I shared in another newsletter, I went on a 6-day canoe trip into the Quetico with a group of eight guys last summer. Like our metaphorical Grand Canyon adventure this year, I knew I was heading into some potentially challenging situations. Biting flies, extreme weather potentials, physically grueling portages, and no basic amenities. And of course, navigating these stressors with a lot of different personalities.

To prepare for the trip, I made sure I had what I needed for my basic needs to be met. I also spent some time getting clear about what type of experience I wanted to have, who I wanted to be within it, and taking time to address my fears.

As we head into this new year with its many opportunities, I invite you to do the same.

What would you love to experience this year?

Who do you want to “travel” with?

What do you need to take care of yourself during the challenges of this year?

Who do you want to be?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

And if you’d like some help, I’m here. I have a couple of ongoing coaching spots opening next month (we meet twice a month for one hour sessions by phone with some light homework in between). I also am starting a new Zoom group for those interested in working together in a small supportive group once a month. I use a sliding scale rate system so that anyone who feels called can participate. Let me know if you are interested and we can come up with a plan that works for you.

Wishing you all an amazing 2025!
